CheesyRamen and I have been brainstorming about how to improve the tutorial so it’s more intuitive and fun right from the get go. We watch people play Eets all the time, and some people think that there’s a fair bit of hand-holding in the beginning, and things don’t really get interesting until they see the Prankster Whale. On the other hand, some people think that there’s too little tutorial to get the hang of what each new item does.

What do you think? One suggestion proposed would be to introduce the Whale as the first item, and then ease them into the emotions and the buds. What other suggestions do you have to improving how we teach people to play Eets?

  1. More things in the first tutorial level; That level is WAY too boring… I mean, I’m all for what it teaches, but it’s a little empty…

  2. I love the way an item shows you what it’s doing when you hold the mouse cursor over it. Very easy to learn. Maybe the first introductions could be a bit more graphic? Like Eets eating a happy bud, jumping of a cliff, bouncing on a conveniantly placed vine of grapes, and continues across the intimidating bottomless gap.

  3. Maybe a level where you have to use every item you just learned?

  4. Great suggestions! I totally agree that some of the earlier puzzles should be more visually appealing, with a bit more going on.

How did you find Warren the Wise? How could we have improved it?

  5. Ehh… Has Warren the wise changed?. Should I play the introduction again? What do you want?

  6. Warren the Wise has changed slightly, but mainly we’re looking for more ideas where we’re doing less “hand holding”, and making the whole tutorial experience more fun right from the get go.

  7. I think Warren is a little too wise to allow himself to be put in a position where you could just get rid of him… :P
