Welcome to another edition of Eets Weekly!

From our Community Talk, some of our members requested that I speak about ramen with cheese . . . so here goes!

When I was in Japan, one day I went to a ramen shop for lunch. However, this was no ordinary ramen shop, it was a ramen shop that served ramen . . . with cheese! Intrigued by the mere thought of blending Far Eastern with Western culinary delights I thought to myself at the time, “I must try this cheesy ramen and delight in its succulent flavours!”

After eating that magical ramen from that tiny place in Tokyo that day, I was so enchanted that I decided to use CheesyRamen as a nickname to honour that cheesy ramen. . .

Also requested by our community members was how to make cheesy ramen. Although I do not know the exact ingredients of that magical ramen, I will offer the next best thing. . . my version of it (perfect for university students!)

CheesyRamen’s . . . Cheesy Ramen!

Feeds one . . . maybe two!

  1. Get one package of instant noodles (not those cup ‘o noodles or whatnot. . .)

    Instant noodles!

  2. Select your favourite cheese (e.g. Cheddar, parmesan, blue cheese, . . . processed cheese. . . :P )

    Cheese!

  3. Optionally, you can add in the stock that usually comes in with the instant noodles.
  4. Mix both the instant noddles & cheese together and let them cook in boiling water.
  5. After that . . . enjoy!

And that’s it for this week! Although an Iron Chef I will not become, I hope you’ll at least enjoy my version of cheesy ramen! :)

  3. Y’know, the way you put it, I’d never try it. But had you linked to something like this, then I’d be a lot more inclined.

  4. Where’s the cheese in that Ramen!?!?!?!? It goes against the principles of cheesy ramen!

And any type of cheese will taste well with ramen! Ramen is quite versitile, you know . . .

Zigactly. I like cheese as much as the next guy… but until you show me some pictures of actual yummy Cheesy Ramen… I’m going to point and laugh at you.

  6. Sounds like you guys need to settle this once and for all. I suggest you go down to Kintaro Ramen (which does indeed offer Cheese Ramen) for lunch or something. Then, if BigFoot likes it he can pay for the meal, otherwise Cheesy Ramen will.

What do you say? Is it a bet?
