Since the Eets Community was launched, we’ve had over 70 really, really cool Puzzles submitted to us by our fans and ourselves. For example, this one, this one, and this one. We’ve seen really fun Puzzles, super-hard Puzzles, or even Puzzles that showed off a new ‘trick’ Eets can use to get the Puzzle Shards!

So what does this all mean?

For the past few weeks, we’ve been working on releasing a Eets Puzzle Pack for all Eets players to enjoy as a little thank you present! In it, we’re planning to include some of our favourite submitted Puzzles, some new Puzzles we’ve made, as well as the top rated Puzzles you’ve chosen.

So what makes this different from the Puzzles on the Community website?

Remember how we said, when we released Eets, that the game is built to support the community? Well, this Puzzle Pack will not only add puzzles, it will actually add them to the Puzzle Map! The new Puzzles become part of the main game, where you could do things you can’t do while playing Custom Puzzles (think hints and more Ninja Skillz trophies :) ) Imagine your puzzle, integrated into the game, with your name in the introduction text! :D

Prime Puzzle estate for sale!

Anyways, this is what the crazy minds here at Klei have been thinking and working on, and we’d love your opinions on this. What Puzzles would you like to be included? Would you mind if the Puzzles you made appeared inside Eets? Would you want to add some tweaks to the level you’ve made, or let us tweak them?

Feel free to give your two cents here! :D

  1. Sorry to be a devil’s advocate, but I think that instead of making a puzzle pack so that custom levels can receive trophies and use hints, you should just make it so that all custom puzzles keep track of trophies (I’ve already suggested this in the forum), and allow hints. I’m sure that programming puzzle pack stuff would be easier, but this seems like a workaround rather than fixing the problem the right way the first time.

If people are actually looking for puzzle packs, it’d be a cool idea to have the Klei staff make a puzzle pack of their favorite 4 or 5 puzzles of the month and post it on the community web site.

  2. Hey statusquo, thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

There’s 2 things to note here. One is that the Puzzle Pack gives us a way to elevate the best puzzles, and make it easier for players who don’t want to scour the database to get more great puzzles. Also, besides trophies and hints, there’s something to be said about extending the main game, I think :D

The other is that changing Custom Puzzles, adding Hints, and other features is something we’re looking into, but it’s a heck of a lot more work. I can tell you now that we’re working hard to fix these things. Though adding trophies to Custom Puzzles may not happen because we can’t track which levels are “official”, so anyone can build levels to give themselves trophies.

    Does this make sense? :P

  3. Here’s the überidea:
Everyone who creates a puzzle (or a campaing) selects a sopt at the puzzle map and a new “puzzle shard” there. And everytime you come to the puzzle map, you press “update puzzles” and then, the puzzles are automaticly downloaded and added to the map, awesome eh? That’d make Eets an online puzzle game.

    Oh, there’s also the multiplayer-puzzle idea, but that’s future’s music ;)

  4. I’m sorry, don’t get me wrong, officially sanctioned puzzle packs are a great idea. As I said, it’d be cool to have a once a month release of the best levels of the month or something like that. These could each be a new “Land” in the main puzzle perhaps.

About adding trophies to the custom puzzles, how about adding them so they’re displayed in the custom puzzles folder, just not added to the overall trophy count? I’ve never used hints, so that’s neither here nor there in my case.

  5. But if you could win trophies by custom levels, people could just make levels really easy and play them alone, just to earn masses of trophies.

  6. Hmmm… perhaps it’s okay for people to earn masses of trophies in the custom section if they really want it. It won’t count toward the official trophies, but it’ll be a good way for people to keep track of how they’re doing with custom puzzles.

    What do you think?

  7. Custom Puzzle trophies would be great.

The whole Puzzle Pack idea doesn’t sound that good.

Maybe if a new Land was released occasionally as a puzzle pack type thing it would be good.
