Making of the Marshomech Suit - Part II
This Eets Weekly was written one week ago, in preparation for CheesyRamen’s departure to Japan for a 2 week hiatus.
Although the test dummy was kinda cool (see Part 1), we decided to scrap it (to the disappointment of the test dummy…)
Rethinking the Marshomech, to the dismay of the test dummy…
So we had to rethink how to make the Marshomech suit. It also didn’t help that we didn’t have much time before PAX, so we resorted to the fastest possible way to make the suit . . . and since we were game developers, not suit engineers, we decided to basically do everything by just winging it!
Gathering Cheesyramen measurements.
With our focus (or lack thereof…) resolved, we decided to start on the Marshomech part that we thought was easiest to make … the underwear! (Note: this doesn’t imply that we’re experts at making underwear, just to clear things up…)
Making underwear in where else? The washroom…
Underwear frame complete! All nice and smooth…
Celebrating our first Marshomech part, we then decided to plaster it, just to test out how the plaster worked.

Next up were the legs:

It took us half a day to make just this… |

After that was the body….. sort of. We started it, but realized we had to finish the other parts first so we could attach it to the body frame.

|
| Somebody measured the body part incorrectly… | |
Working our way up, the head and arms were next:
The beginning of that cute, cuddly robot head that inadvertently terrorized little children…

After some more plastering and making the shoulder armor, it was time to give it a (really uncomfortable!) test fitting.
Bigfoot: “Smile!” Cheesyramen: “Get this thing off me!”
By now, we were really short on time, so we hurried to complete the suit, which involved finishing everything that wasn’t listed above, plus going out into the street dressed as young hooligans in order to spraypaint the suit. (sorry for the lack of pictures!)

Finally, with just a few hours left before we left to PAX, we completed the suit! Yay! (except for me, who had to wear the suit for 3 straight days…)

Anyways, hoped you liked our Marshomech story!
I love the final poses.
Gonna bring out the marshmellow-mech for halloween?

I hope we didn’t ruin your impression of the Marshomech suit
Maybe next time we’ll up the ante and use something a little more durable and professional than cardboard and plaster…
