If you’ve been wondering where yours truly has been for the past two weeks, I ‘ve been travelling around Japan. I’ve finally come back (although a bit jet-lagged), but here’s the brief summary of where I went and what I did:
First off, straight from Vancouver to Tokyo (a really fun 10-hour flight), I land in Japan only to take a train to another airport to take another 2-hour flight to sunny, tropical Okinawa. . .
. . . only thing was, there was a typhoon happening there at that time!
Pointing out the typhoon!
Fortunately, our plane landed in Okinawa in the middle of the typhoon, and double fortunately, it was sunny the next day! While in the one day were in Okinawa, we managed to visit Shuri castle:
Yay.
Ding dong!
Round 1: fight!
Round 2: fight!
Round 3: fight!
You get the idea…
The next day, we left Okinawa (it was pouring rain when we left!) for Kyoto and Osaka, where we’d spend the next few days. While there, we took in the nightlife and travelled around for some sightseeing:
Osaka nightlife
One of my favourite buildings!
Himeji Castle
Kinkakuji Shrine
Toudaiji Temple
After that, it was shinkansen (bullet train) travel to Tokyo, where we’d take in the sights and do lots and lots of shopping!
Shibuya - Always busy!
Ginza - A rich person’s dream shopping area.
Akihabara - A geek’s dream shopping area.
Oh and there was also the Tokyo Game Show to go to, where it was games, cosplayers, and booth babes galore!
TGS 2006
Playstation 3
Cosplayers everywhere that’d put the Marshomech costume to shame!
At the end of it all, we unfortunately had to return home, but it was totally a blast!
It was a blast for sure!
Nice! Really beutiful photos, and I like the fighting scenes. Who was it you traveled with?

Sounds like you had a blast! I can’t wait till I have the time to visit places outside the country! And as far as the TGS went….I heard the line was like 6 miles long, you didn’t have to wait in all that did you?
Ooooo, and how’s the Wii looking?

Thenks for the comments!
The combatant in those numerous fight scenes is none other than our enlightened artist doubling as a shaolin kung fu master
As for TGS, we didn’t have to wait long to get in… maybe it was because we weren’t too late getting there, yet not too early… on the other hand, lining up for 1-2 hours to try out some games wasn’t in our best interests…
And although no one could try it out first-hand, the Wii looked awesome! Either that, or the booth babes demoing the Wii…
