I’ll admit, we’ve been pretty busy lately, wrapping up our current project (sorry, we can’t tell you what it is yet!
) on top of starting our next one, but I managed to sneak in some website improvement for this week! Aside from some minor cosmetic tweaks, which you may have already noticed, I added in two features that Puzzle and Replay makers will appreciate:
- Renaming Puzzles: Want to rename your super-cool puzzle name to something even cooler, or just correct that spelling mistake you made to your puzzle? Then you can easily rename your puzzle when you click on “Update Puzzle”
- Deleting Puzzles: Want to delete that Puzzle you don’t like, or delete those duplicate levels that get posted (for some strange, yet undetermined server-side reason…)? Then you can easily delete the puzzles you’ve posted!
What other features would you like implemented on the Community site? Just let me know! Anyways, for now… enjoy!
One thing I’m hoping to see is the search capability, especially in custom puzzles/replays section & in the forum. There are very few websites nowadays without search option so why this cool website should be one of them? Search can be very helpful when finding a particular puzzle or making sure if a certain replay exists or not etc. So please consider to embed ‘Search’ & give this website a Mega Level Up!

Aside from the features I just added, search is one of the most requested features, although I may have to get my hands dirty to add that in
I’ll definitely add it in sometime though!

As is now being debated within the “Dragon” Art puzzle. Perhaps the rating nature in Art and Machine puzzles needs tweaking. Windfall made the point that Art puzzles can act more like actual puzzles, while machines are the ones which are not designed with solving in mind. However, then I made the point that Art may act as either in creators’ minds. It seems that switching the nature of the ratings on difficulty for Art and Machines would be good. But maybe something else is needed too. Such as another category, or specifying the nature of the puzzles next to their names to help creators.

One sentence: Go to page xxx. When you have fourty pages of puzzles, and you want to check the puzzles on page twenty you have to make like 16 klicks to get there. Anoying. Also I would like to be able to sort puzzles after “puzzle author”.

Oooo! I thaought of one other thing. On the main puzzles page, it would be fab’ if the “Top rated puzzles” section would have the one best Eets puzzle, followed by the best clicky puzzle, and so on. It would give players a great idea for what their puzzles should feel like given the genre they want to make. Also it would help along with whatever you do with the rating system so that (Rheb’s fantastic
)machines and such can have their spot. Then, when visitors go to the respective genre pages, the top 5 puzzles for that type are then shown, and thus players can get an even better feel for it on the convenient side bar puzzles.
P.S. Is there a glitch happening on the top rated puzzles right now? Not that I’m so totally mad that my puzzle was removed, (I think Air Jumping still deserves best all in all) but now one of Rhebs machines is on top. Which is weird just ’cause it has a low difficulty rating.

Hehe… sorry to keep hogging space here, but ideas have been popping in my head like puzzles
This is to go along with my and Winfall’s first idea for the rating system. Perhaps two ratings should infact be present in every puzzle type, but the second one actually is totally different for machines and art as opposed to puzzles and clickies. For example: the second rating for machines could be “enginuity” or “cleverness”, and for art it could be “Look”, and if art puzzles act like puzzles or machines, that would affect the “Fun” rating instead.

Thanks for the suggestions! Those are definitely things we’ll look into adding!

Okay, one more rating suggestion, and hopefully nothing else
It’s occured to me that nothing ever gets lower than a “fair” rating unless it’s posted out of ignorance (but this I have not even seen). I think that the “fun” rating should only have 5 options, or actually have “negative” stars for less than 5. This will show players more potently what their puzzles and replays are like. There has been some debate over the fact that a lot of things look a bit to generous on the ratings. Plus this will make dissagreeing ratings even out more nicely.
